Run for their lives

Wild male Miskam in the Kabili Reserve
There are countless organised running events such as marathons and half marathons taking place up and down the UK each year.
Check out the table below for some of the upcoming running events for 2012; we often have charity assured places available and waiting for supporters to get involved in. These places can be identified in the table as ** is included next to the name of the running event.
Do not forget that if there is another running event that, or any other sponsored race or sporting event that we haven’t included, you can still take part in them and raise vital funds to support Orangutan Appeal UK.
We can send you a free fundraiser pack, (including posters, leaflets and an order form for one of our stylish and breathable sports vests).
For further information on running for the Appeal or taking part in sporting events, please email Nick on admin2@orangutan-appeal.org.uk or phone our Administration Office on 01590 623443.
And most importantly, don’t forget to check this page for updates throughout the year!

See below for more details on the runs that we have places for:
London 10,000
Join thousands of other runners on 27 May 2012 for the Bupa London 10,000 and run on the course that is likely to be used for the 2012 Olympics! Pass many of London’s famous sights, including Westminster Abbey, the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, The London Eye, the Millennium Bridge, The Monument, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Nelson's Column and Admiralty Arch! Buckingham Palace acts as the backdrop to the start and finish.
Brighton Marathon
Take part in one of the top running events in the UK on 15 April, with over 18,000 entrants predicted for 2012. The course is generally quite fast, and takes in a loop around Preston Park and the best of the city centre including Brighton Pavilion and stretches of coastal road with superb panoramic views. The last 15 miles is either flat or downhill!
Edinburgh Marathon
Enter the fastest marathon in the UK, as voted by Runners World in 2008. This one takes place on 27 May and is downhill for much of the first six miles, then flat for the rest of the way, making for a relatively speedy course, so whether it’s your first marathon or you’re a seasoned athlete, you should record a relatively fast time.
Great South Run
This ever-popular 10 mile run takes place in Southsea, Portsmouth on 28 October. The course makes its way along the sea front, passing by HMS Victory and is less gruelling than a half-marathon.
