Introducing our New Ambassador Nicholas Daines

I am extremely honoured to be Ambassador for Orangutan Appeal UK. As an official envoy I can’t wait to get stuck in and carry on the important work this incredible charity is doing.

Through my story, I hope to inspire others to join this amazing cause with its unique educational philosophy, which not only benefits these amazing creatures but everyone on the planet. I’ve been truly moved by the enthusiasm and passion of the Appeal.

The orangutans need our help and I’m driven by our vision for the future and together we will make the world a better place.

It’s the expertise and talent of individuals like Stuntman Nicholas Daines that make Hollywood action heroes look so calm and cool in the face of danger. Whether it’s jumping out of a speeding car at 60 mph or leaping from a 10 storey building to avoid a flurry of gunfire, it’s all part of a days work for Nicholas, and Hollywood definitely likes his work. The great thing is that Nicholas is from the UK but has had a significant impact on the US market appearing in major Hollywood blockbusters such as Steven Spielberg’s ‘Munich’; ‘Valkyrie’; ‘Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince’; ‘Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix’ and the Bond epic ‘Die Another Day’. Nicholas has also worked with legendary film director Tim Burton providing pint-sized gymnastic genius as an Umpa Lumpa in ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ starring Johnny Depp.

In 2008 Nicholas was nominated for a prestigious Taurus World Stunt Award for his high fall from a glacier in Switzerland on the motion picture ‘The Golden Compass’, and his string of high profile credits continue with ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’; ‘National Treasure 2’; ‘Batman Begins’, ‘The Wolf Man’; ‘Clash of the Titans’ and the box office smash ‘Mamma Mia’.

Nicholas was on the international gymnastics circuit for a number of years and represented Great Britian at World Champioship level but took a sabbatical from gymnastics to concentrate on his academic career achieving a First Class Honours degree in Microbiology from The University of London.

He has used his gymnastic skills to break in to the entertainment business and hasn’t looked back since. His first professional assignment was as a member of the highly acclaimed comedy acrobatic troupe, known as The Acromaniacs. This fast and hilariously funny slap-stick act was constantly in worldwide demand and established itself as one of Britain’s top specialty acts. Nicholas has since established himself as one of the best acrobatic aerialists in the world with a truly international reputation. His specialist skills have been secured by such corporate giants as Virgin, Microsoft, Toyota, BMW, Mercedes, Hewlett Packard and Rado to name but a few.

When he moved in to the world of television Nicholas was soon spotted by casting directors to front major television commercials around the world such as Adidas, Scholl, Martini, Sainsbury’s and Carlsberg. He then became the face of a BBC Drama campaign where he captivated audiences with his high diving skills.

As a model Nicholas has been the face of a number of high profile, worldwide advertising campaigns for Adidas, Yellow Pages, Prudential Health, Olympus, American Express, BMW, Tetley, and Barclays.

Nicholas is still very much involved in sports education, using his celebrity gymnastic status to raise awareness of sport in schools around the globe and his international stunt and acting career continues to go from strength to strength.
