We’re looking for an experienced and highly organised charity administrator based either in our Brockenhurst (full-time) or Effingham (part-time) office.

Working as part of a small team in the hub of the charity in Brockenhurst you will assume dedicated tasks including administering the orangutan adoption scheme, coordinating sponsorship fundraising activities and campaigns, creating and managing social media posts, collating information and writing supporter updates.

You will have specific targets you will need to meet and you will oversee the fundraising business unit reporting into the charity manager. Other administrative duties will also be asked of you.

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and highly organised administrator with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. A capability to manage changing priorities and work to tight deadlines is also desired.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Input adoptions and donations information into MS Access database, produce letters and certificates, collate and distribute adoption packs by post and email
  • Coordinate fundraising activities and their preparation; ensure all key dates are covered such as International Orangutan Day. Have clear social media plans and advertising schedules for all events
  • Actively seek opportunities to deliver fundraising programmes, promotion and engagement off supporters
  • Maintain the fundraising pack and ensure supporters receive regular updates and communication
  • Motivate and facilitate supporters including the management of the Facebook fundraisers group and maintain and develop positive relationships with existing supporters
  • Write press releases and distribute to relevant media outlets
  • Distribute event fundraising materials and other information as appropriate in response to enquiries
  • Compile and distribute mailshots and other supporter communication including articles for the bi-annual newsletter and short videos
  • Handle correspondence and respond to supporter queries via email, letter and telephone in a timely, friendly and professional manner
  • Create and manage social media and website posts including photographs and video clips and engage with supporters via these channels
  • Manage adoption scheme updates including writing updates, collecting information and ordering printed photographs within strict deadlines
  • Identify and manage opportunities for generating income
  • Undertake research and present findings
  • Attend meetings and take minutes
  • Adhere to the procedures relating to the proper use and care of equipment and materials to include general housekeeping of office and office equipment
  • Carry out instructions from management for issues arising, and when agreed implement actions in accordance with administrative policies and procedures
  • Adhere to stated policies and procedures relating to health and safety

Key Qualifications and Experience

  • Good working knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Knowledge of MS Access is desirable
  • Experience of good customer care and relationship building
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise
  • Willingness to carry out routine tasks
  • Ability to follow all office processes and procedures with excellent attention to detail
  • Passion for conservation and wildlife
  • Ability to work independently and use own initiative whilst being able to take direction
  • A ‘can do’ attitude
  • A friendly, positive and flexible approach to work, with the ability to manage a wide variety of tasks and adapt to changing deadlines
  • Enjoy working as part of a small team
  • Experience in a similar role would be desirable
