We are looking for applications for future Liaison Officers based at Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation in Borneo in 2020.

If you have a passion for orangutans and conservation, a flair for customer relations and are a fantastic sales person then look no further, we have the opportunity of a lifetime. We are looking for people that can spend 3 months in Borneo working alongside some of the most dedicated people you will ever meet.

The ability to attend a face to face interview with our chairlady at our Surrey office and induction at our administration office in Hampshire is essential, this must be undertaken at your own cost.

8am – 12pm and 2pm – 6pm

5 ½ days per week

Length of placement 3 months
Location Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, Sabah, Borneo

Position Purpose

The Liaison Officer (LO) plays a key role in educating the public about the plight of the orangutan, the work being done by centre and how the charity supports those efforts, and giving information about the orangutans at the centre and in the Kabili reserve.
They are a representative for the charity and are fundamental part of the charity's mission to raise awareness. The LO is also responsible for raising vital funds for the Appeal.

This is a very demanding yet rewarding role. The ability to organise your time effectively is essential. You will be working independently away from your UK-based team so must be confident in working autonomously yet able to take daily direction. This is a multi-faceted role and you need to be confident that you can carry out each task effectively.

In this role there will be NO direct contact with the orangutans.

Key Qualifications and Experience:

A passion for conservation and orangutans
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Ability to engage an audience and be confident in answering questions
Customer service experience
A ‘can do’ attitude
A mature and responsible manner
Able to work independently
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Sound IT knowledge of MS Word and Excel
