Seeking a fully adaptable personal assistant for every respect

The Personal Assistant will be responsible for providing efficient, confidential, flexible, and trustworthy professional support and administrative services to the Chairperson of Orangutan Appeal UK in all aspects concerned with the efficient and successful running of the charity and on occasions personal requirements.


  • You must be flexible in your hours of work and may be required to attend meetings or run errands outside normal working hours
  • You may be required to work occasional evenings or weekends in support of events
  • You will be working in a home office with the Chairperson. The other members of staff are based in the administration office in Hampshire.
  • You must be an animal lover and get on with dogs. There is a resident boxer dog who you may be required to look after on occasions.
  • You must have a full UK driving licence and your own transport as you may be required to run errands, drive to the administration office in Hampshire or attend events.

This will be a zero hours / temporary variable hours contract. Typically you will be required to work between 15 and 20 hours per week however flexibility and adaptability is expected.

Key Skills and Experience

  • A flexible, friendly and positive attitude with the ability to converse respectfully with senior officials from foreign and UK government, celebrities, high profile managers as well as with our foreign members of staff
  • An interest in conservation is essential and a commitment to learn and familiarise yourself with the critically endangered orangutan
  • High degree of IT literacy including MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, Windows Live Mail
  • An ability to carry-out instructions without question and have strong organisational skills
  • The ability to work under your own volition, without continual direction and supervision is essential, with high regard for confidentiality
  • Ability and willingness to undertake, and deal effectively, efficiently and appropriately with all tasks both administrative and personal as required
  • Ability to see projects through from start to finish, managing time and tasks effectively
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and capable of thinking on your feet
