OAUK involved in local education project to inspire youngsters about conservation

Linekar Presentation

Lahad Datu wildlife department recently invited OAUK staff to give a presentation to local secondary school students. The students from SMK Tungku school were on a two day trip to the Tabin Wildlife Reserve to learn about conservation first hand and immerse themselves in Borneo's unique biodiversity. Lineker Likuk, who is the head of our team in the Tabin Wildlife Reserve, gave an insightful presentation to the students on orangutans and their rainforest habitat.

The students also took part in a programme of activities including forest trekking and bird watching and met with some other NGOs. We hope to stimulate local student's enthusiasm for conservation so that they will be inspired to help protect endangered species like the orangutan long into the future.
