Meet the UK Team

Sue Sheward MBE, Founder and Chairlady of OAUK

Sue started the charity in 2000 after volunteering at Sepilok Rehabilitation Centre and has since dedicated her life to helping these endangered apes. Sue is always on the go, thinking of new ideas and ways to help the orangutans.  She enjoys taking her beloved boxer dog Basil for long walks, playing golf and socialising with friends in her local pub.

Patron - Paul O'Grady

Paul O'Grady became Patron of Orangutan Appeal UK following a visit to Sepilok with Sue in September 2015.  Speaking about his role Paul said; “I am delighted to be a patron of Orangutan Appeal UK to help raise awareness of the plight of this beautiful endangered ape and promote the work the charity are doing to conserve them. Seeing their work first-hand and meeting the baby orangutans was heart-wrenching, I immediately fell in love with baby Archie which has inspired me to get involved."
