From rescue to rehabilitation
The film begins with the rescue of a young orangutan who has become separated from her mother.
See how orphaned orangutans receive specialist care and progress through Sepilok’s nurseries, gradually learning the climbing, foraging and nest-building skills they would normally acquire from their mothers.
As their confidence grows, human contact is reduced and they are encouraged to spend more time in the protected forest surrounding Sepilok.
A return to the wild
The film also follows a rehabilitated adult male through his final health assessments and release into Tabin Wildlife Reserve.
After years of care and rehabilitation, watch the moment he climbs into the trees and begins his new life in the wild.
Working together for orangutans
The rehabilitation programme at Sepilok is undertaken by Sabah Wildlife Department, with long-term support from Orangutan Appeal UK.
