International Orangutan Day - 2025
A day designed to focus attention on and raise awareness of these great apes and their plight.
Fewer than 105,000 Bornean orangutans remain in the wild. These peaceful and intelligent great apes face threats from habitat loss, deforestation, climate change, fires, hunting and the illegal wildlife trade.
To mark International Orangutan Day, the teams at Sepilok hosted two days of fun activities for visitors - facts, food samples, quizzes, colouring, games and an enrichment workshop.
Education is vital in supporting the work being undertaken to protect the orangutans.
